Research and Development

At Škrlj d.o.o., we invest a lot in research and development, and encourage innovation and self-initiative.

We actively cooperate with external research institutes (Alpinenon, University of Nova Gorica, Agricultural Institute of Slovenia). Our company is in the official Research and Development Actors database, found at the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS).

Projects:

Substitution of synthetic solvents in extraction processes with water - supercritical water extraction (SEV)

As part of this project we are going to design and create an operational pilot device for the extraction and dissolution of cellulosic materials. A particular emphasis will be placed on the selection and development of advanced materials. The device will be used for pilot testing and data collection, which will then be used for carbon footprint calculations (LCA) and cost benefit analysis (CBA), as well as the basis for the production of larger industrial devices. With this project, we will develop a new group of products that are ecological, while at the same time also gaining a whole new segment of customers.

supercritical water

Project goals and effects:
- Development of a new device for the extraction and dissolution of biopolymers using SCW;
- Entry on market of high-tech products with high added value on a global level in the pharmaceutical and food industry sectors;
- Positive impact on customer employees;
- Positive impact on the environment and society.

Developing the intelligent and ecological UltraPRESS

The project RIP/09/21/12 "Developing the intelligent and ecological UltraPRESS" was selected at the public tender "Direct incentives for joint development and investment projects - DIP09" as part of the "Operational Programme for Strengthening Regional Development Potentials" for the period 2007-2013.

Working on the UltraPRESS project, we developed a new, intelligent, and technologically advanced pressing system (for grapes and other fruit), while also keeping in mind the ecological aspect. Both products, the UltraPRESS and the intelligent control unit, are innovations on the global market. Combined with the intelligent control unit, the UltraPRESS offers new ecological alternatives of grape pressing and enables optimal press fraction and must processing.
